Major Conditions Helped by CBD

Three major conditions can benefit greatly from the medicinal use of CBD. They are Epileptic Disorders, Schizophrenia and other Psychotic Disorders, and Anxiety.

How CBD Helps Epileptic Disorders
The origin of CBD's medicinal use begins with Charlotte Figi and the treatment of her epilepsy. While it kickstarted the classification and identification of the ECS, it also pointed us in the right direction for treating epilepsy with CBD.

A recent breakthrough from a drug company in Britain has shown great progress in the treatment of Dravet Syndrome and Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome. It is currently being used as a medicinal substance in mainstream healthcare. Additionally, they have already begun being used in America as supplementary treatments for major anti-epileptic drugs on the market.

How CBD Helps Schizophrenia and Psychotic Disorders
CBD is often claimed to help lessen the psychoactive effects of THC on the body. Often it is mixed in with strains for medicinal marijuana to help curb some of the psychological effects people use who are looking for more of the body high effects.

Because of this, CBD is labeled as an anti-psychotic. A review in 2015 dated 'Schizophrenia Research' suggests that will be ideal in helping schizophrenia patients.

Since THC affects regions in the brain such as the hippocampus and the prefrontal cortex, it is shown that the ECS has nodes in those respective areas. Since we know that CBD and THC share receptors, there is evidence pointing to CBD triggering receptors in that area to reduce strain and activity in the event of schizophrenic and psychotic activity.

While there isn't enough data to substantiate these claims in human trials, they have been lauded as ideal supplementary treatments for those who are seeking additional aid with their current prescriptions.

How CBD Helps Anxiety
While THC has been shown to increase signs of anxiety in people, it has recently been reviewed in a study that it isn't about the amount of THC but the about of CBD that triggers anxiety attacks in users of Marijuana.

In fact, CBD has been shown to be strong enough to reduce subjective symptoms of anxiety in a trial that featured 10 patients and gave them 400 mg of CBD vs. a placebo. While there are no wide-released treatments on the market, they are recommended for people who are looking for holistic remedies for their anxiety instead of heavy medicines.
