About Hand swelling

Hand swelling can result from conditions such as inflammation, infection, allergic reaction, or cancer. Inflammation can be caused by trauma, arthritis, or an autoimmune disease such as rheumatoid arthritis or lupus.

Symptoms

Pain, loss of motion, swelling, pus, redness, red streaks up arm.

Depends on the cause of the swelling but may include: immobilization, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory medications/NSAIDs (ibuprofen/Motrin or Advil, naproxen/Naprosyn), pain medications such as acetaminophen(Tylenol) other anti-inflammatory medications, and/or antibiotics.
