Blood loss leads to anemia. The most common cause of blood loss is bleeding into the intestinal tract.

Symptoms

Weakness, fatigue, pallor, fainting, shortness of breath.

Tests & Diagnostics

A history and physical exam will be performed. A complete blood count will be done to determine the extent of bleeding. Other tests are performed to identify the site of bleeding.

Common tests: Complete blood count (CBC).

Conventional treatment summary

Treatment includes finding and stopping ongoing blood loss. Transfusion of blood is sometimes needed if the blood loss is severe.
