Aponeurotic ptosis (age-related ptosis)
About Aponeurotic ptosis (age-related ptosis)
A drooping of the eyelid associated with aging. This is not a disease but a normal occurrence as one becomes older. Usually both eyes are affected but one eye may be more droopy than the other. The drooping occurs because of gravity and stretching of eyelid tissue that prevents the muscle that lifts the eyelid from normally working. This drooping occurs gradually and is not associated with other symptoms. The following conditions require immediate medical attention: sudden eyelid drooping, double vision, slurred speech, arm or leg weakness, or severe headache.Symptoms
