About Breast fibroadenoma (benign growths)

Benign lumps that are most commonly found in women in their late teens and early 20s. They are the most common benign masses of the breast. They are increasingly being seen in postmenopausal women who are taking hormone replacement therapy.

Symptoms

A breast lump, mobile with palpation.

Tests & Diagnostics

A history and physical exam will be performed. Additional tests may include: a mammogram and/or ultrasound, a biopsy either with a needle or surgically.

Common tests: Ultrasound.

Conventional treatment summary

Treatment includes: observation and repeat clinical exam if mammogram shows it is definitely benign, biopsy, cryoablation, and/or surgical removal.
