About Motion sickness

A disorder characterized by an unpleasant, temporary disturbance that occurs while traveling. Symptoms include dizziness, nausea and/or vomiting. The symptoms become worse with any head movement, and lessen when the eyes are closed.

Symptoms

Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, unsteady gait, room spinning (vertigo).

Conventional treatment summary

Medications to help prevent and relieve symptoms include scopolamine patch (Transderm Scop) or pills (Scopace); anti-emetics such as promethazine hydrochloride (Anergan, Phenergan) and ondansetron (Zofran); and antihistamines such as dimenhydrinate (Dramamine), diphenhydramine (Benadryl), and meclizine (Antivert).
