About Chalazion

A swelling of the eyelid caused by a swollen oil gland. It can be the aftereffect of a sty. Unlike a sty, it is not an acute bacterial infection.

Symptoms

Eye pain and redness for a few days. Eventually, the chalazion becomes a painless, round swelling of the eyelid.

Tests & Diagnostics

A history and physical will be performed. The diagnosis can usually be made with a clinical exam without additional tests.
