Nutrients connected to Migraine Disorders

A link means the body needs the nutrient for this, or that low intake is linked to it. It does not mean extra supplements help if your intake is already adequate; each link shows how strong the evidence is.

  • Vitamin B2Preliminary or mixed

In trials, 400 mg a day for three months reduced migraine attacks in adults, but results varied and evidence is limited. This is a study amount, not advice, and migraine needs a clinician.

  • FeverfewPreliminary or mixed

Studied for preventing migraine attacks. Cochrane called the evidence low quality; the EU approval is for traditional use after a doctor excludes serious causes.

  • ButterburPreliminary or mixed

A specific root extract may reduce migraine frequency (NCCIH). The American Academy of Neurology stopped recommending butterbur in 2015 over safety concerns.

  • Coriander seedPreliminary or mixed

One 2016 trial of fruit syrup added to usual medicine reported fewer and milder migraines.
